Painting a Portrait - Day 3, the final 2 hours.

Well, it's sort of like him, but not quite, but will do for now!  I've learned a lot about painting with acrylics and trying to get a fine blended finish.  It's a bit more resolved than the other 2 portraits I did just after Christmas.

  2. The eyes/eyebrows are so good on this one. Real depth and a sense of seeing the personality within. You can nitpick about the rest, but that part is really good. As for the older ones - well "charming" comes to mind - love that wry look over the glasses.

    1. Interestingly, its the eyes that don't work for me - perhaps because I know the sitter. I'm happy with the rest though to be honest. I guess it depends what you're looking for and the style of painting you like. The purpose of all these portraits is to discover new styles and deal with them in different ways in order to learn and move forward. Timing yourself, and trying to keep within a few hours, really really challenges you though.
